This spring in Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends, two Broadway icons, Tony Award winners Bernadette Peters and Lea Salonga, headline an extraordinary event dedicated to the legendary composer. Following its hit run in London, this musical celebration now comes to Manhattan Theatre Club’s Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on Broadway this season.
Curtain up, light the lights, and experience Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends on Broadway. Stephen Sondheim is the famed and multi-Tony Award-winning composer and/or lyricists of hit shows including Into the Woods, Gypsy, West Side Story, Assassins, A Little Night Music, and Sunday in the Park with George, for which he earned a Pulitzer Prize. Recently memorialized on stage with starry revivals of Sweeney Todd and Merrily We Roll Along, songs from the musical theatre giant now return to Broadway in this one-of-a-kind event.
Stephen Sondheim’s Old Friends comes across the pond from London, where it earned a bevy of five-star raves and was hailed by The Times as “unmissable musical theatre.” Cameron Mackintosh, the acclaimed producer of Les Misérables, devised this production.

Homeownership is one long game of “What did I forget to do this time?” You think you’re on top of it—replacing the air filters, testing the smoke alarms, clearing out the gutters before they become a wildlife sanctuary. But the little things? They’re the ones that come back to bite you.
And let’s be honest, some of these tasks are just plain weird.

At some point, your fridge started sounding like a dying spaceship. No big deal, right? Until your milk spoils three days before the expiration date.
Turns out, there’s a reason: dust-covered coils. They sit behind or beneath your fridge, collecting all the filth your kitchen throws at them. When they clog up, your fridge has to work overtime, sucking more energy and wearing itself out in the process. Fixing it is weirdly satisfying—just yank your fridge away from the wall, grab a vacuum with a brush attachment, and go to town. It takes ten minutes.
Water heaters are like goldfish. They seem fine until one day, they’re just… not. What’s happening behind the scenes? Sediment buildup. Minerals from your water sink to the bottom of the tank, creating a layer of gunk that forces your heater to work twice as hard. The result? Lukewarm showers and a slow, quiet death for your water heater. Once a year, grab a bucket, hook up a hose, and drain it. You’ll be horrified by what comes out.
A gap the size of a pencil eraser might as well be a front door for ants. Mice, too. Even roaches. Do you know who does think about this? Pest control companies like Terminix—because they get called in after something scurries across the kitchen floor at 2 a.m. Check your windows, doors, and baseboards. If you see a crack, seal it. Just do it.
There’s a moment of betrayal when you open the dishwasher and see a “clean” plate with food crusted onto it. It’s not the dishwasher’s fault. It’s yours. At the bottom of your machine, there’s a filter. It traps everything—food bits, grease, the ghosts of dinners past. And if you don’t clean it? Your dishes get a sad, cloudy rinse in old, dirty water. Find it. Pull it out. Scrub it under the sink. Make amends with your dishwasher.
No one wants to go into the attic. It’s always too hot, too dusty, and full of weird childhood relics no one wants to claim. But you need to check it. It’s a vital part of your home maintenance plan.
Leaks hide up there. Rodents set up shop. Insulation shifts and stops doing its job. Twice a year, take a flashlight and a deep breath, then go up there. Find the damage before it finds you.
Nobody talks about these tasks, but skipping them? That’s how things break, stink, or cost you money. Take an hour. Knock them out.

This April, the NYC Jewelry & Object Show returns with a fresh identity and an exclusive dealer preview, making its third edition the largest and most dynamic yet, according to founder Konstantinos I. Leoussis.
Leoussis, a specialist in vintage jewelry and the founder of KIL Promotions, which organizes the event, has rebranded it as the NYC Jewelry, Antique & Object Show (NYC JAOS) to reflect the growing demand for antiques. He notes that the “treasure hunt mentality” among consumers inspired this expansion.
Set to take place from April 5–7 at the Metropolitan Pavilion (125 W. 18th St.) in Chelsea, the event has attracted over 100 vendors, including antique galleries, jewelry designers, and luxury brands. This marks the second consecutive year the show is being held in the spring, following its inaugural edition in November 2023.
With luxury thrifting gaining popularity—especially among Gen Z and millennial shoppers—the inclusion of antiques enhances the event’s appeal and is expected to draw a wider audience. Tickets for NYC JAOS are available for purchase here.
A Growing and Evolving Marketplace
“Organizing a show like this is truly a passion project,” Leoussis shares. “Our first edition was a learning experience—we put it together and thought, ‘Let’s see what happens.’ Since then, each show has expanded. Now, we’re in a larger venue and nearly sold out.”

While rebranding a relatively new event posed some risk, the decision was met with overwhelmingly positive feedback from participants. A notable addition this year is the dealer preview on April 4, providing vendors with a chance to network and discuss business in a relaxed setting before the doors open to the public.
New York has long been a hub for unique and meaningful jewelry, from antique treasures to contemporary designs. Those searching for Jewish or Judaica jewelry in New York will find a wide selection of beautifully crafted pieces at JewelryNest, a brand known for its high-quality materials and intricate designs. Whether purchasing for personal wear or as a thoughtful gift, they offer timeless Jewish jewelry that reflects both tradition and craftsmanship. Customers also have the option to pay over time through Affirm, ensuring accessibility for all buyers.
A Community for Collectors and Enthusiasts
“Our goal is to build a true community for the dealers,” says Leoussis. “Past participants expressed interest in experiences that align with the vibrant, welcoming atmosphere we’ve cultivated. This year, we’ve added more food options, lounge areas, and even a wine bar to encourage socializing.”
As the founder of KIL N.Y.C., Leoussis specializes in antique and antique-inspired jewelry. He established KIL Promotions in early 2023 to create direct-to-consumer jewelry shopping experiences in New York City—bringing together vendors from across the globe while offering an accessible and cost-effective platform for dealers and retailers.

This year’s lineup at NYC JAOS features an impressive array of vendors, including Alpha Omega Jewelry, Antique Reflections, Courtville Antiques, Halle’s Jewels, Jewels by Grace, Keyamour, Lowther Antiques, Olivia Boutique, Sandy Jacobs Antiques, the Vintage Jeweller, Wilson Estate Jewelry, and many others.
“In many ways, we’re curating a modern-day treasure hunt, guiding visitors to discover timeless, one-of-a-kind pieces—both contemporary and estate—each with its own rich story,” says Leoussis. “Seeing how this show continues to grow and evolve is incredibly exciting, and we’re constantly looking for ways to enhance the experience.”
